Does morbid trigger if a creature died earlier in the same turn before the morbid spell is cast?

Morbid is an ability word that groups together cards with a common mechanic: they check whether a creature died (went from the battlefield to the graveyard) at any point during the current turn. This is a lookback condition, not a trigger that requires something to die after the spell is cast.

According to CR 700.4, ability words have no rules meaning themselves, but the reminder text clarifies the condition: 'if a creature died this turn.' This means the game simply checks the turn's history at the time the spell resolves. If any creature went to the graveyard from the battlefield for any reason earlier in the turn — even in a previous phase or step — morbid is satisfied (CR 700.4, CR 118.5).

It does not matter whether the creature died before or after you cast the morbid spell. What matters is that at least one creature died at some point during the same turn the spell resolves. Tokens that die and cease to exist also count, because they were in the graveyard momentarily before disappearing (CR 110.5f).

Example: During your opponent's attack step, they trade their 2/2 with your 2/2 in combat and both die. Later in the same turn, you cast Grim Flowering (a morbid card). Even though the creatures died before you cast it, morbid is active because a creature died this turn, and you get the bonus effect.

Note: If it is a brand new turn and no creatures have died yet in that turn, morbid will not be satisfied — the check is strictly 'this turn,' resetting each turn.
