Does Humility remove abilities granted by equipment attached to creatures?

Short answer
Yes. Humility removes all abilities from creatures, including those granted by attached Equipment, due to timestamp/dependency layer rules.

Humility reads 'All creatures lose all abilities and have base power and toughness 1/1.' Under the layer system (CR 613), static effects are applied in a specific order. Ability-removing effects are applied in Layer 6. Equipment granting abilities to the equipped creature also operates in Layer 6.

When two effects both apply in the same layer, they are generally ordered by timestamp — whichever effect was created first is applied first (CR 613.7b). However, CR 613.8 introduces 'dependency': if applying one effect would change what another effect does, the dependent effect is applied after. Humility's 'lose all abilities' would remove the Equipment's granting ability from the creature, making the Equipment's Layer 6 effect dependent on Humility's Layer 6 effect.

Because of this dependency, Humility is applied first in Layer 6, stripping all abilities. Then the Equipment's granted abilities are applied on top — but wait: the Equipment's ability to grant abilities is itself a static ability of the Equipment, not of the creature. Equipment are not creatures (unless separately made so), so Humility does not affect the Equipment itself. The Equipment still grants its abilities to the creature in Layer 6 after Humility removes them, meaning the granted abilities ARE present.

Actually, the correct ruling per official precedent is: if Humility has an earlier timestamp than the Equipment attachment, the Equipment's granted abilities are applied after Humility and the creature retains them. If Humility has a later timestamp, Humility removes them last and they are lost. Dependency does NOT apply here because Humility doesn't affect the Equipment's own ability — both effects apply independently in Layer 6, ordered by timestamp (CR 613.7b).

Example: A creature is equipped with Sword of Fire and Ice (granting protection abilities). If Humility entered the battlefield after the Sword was attached, Humility has the later timestamp, is applied last in Layer 6, and the creature loses the protection abilities granted by the Sword. If the Sword was attached after Humility entered, the Sword's granted abilities are applied last and the creature retains them.
